I don't know the names of them off-hand, though the movies themselves are often kinda bad: low-quality camerawork, wooden acting, terrible sound, super-stereotypical characters, bland plots, attractive, but boring actors. You might try some of the indie B-movie, and C-movie grade gay films made and distributed by small US producers like LOGO and PictureThis! I'm sure for some people it would add depth, but I don't know this subjective "realism" is worth sacrificing so much in ways of potential audiences and distribution. I don't know how I'd feel about watching a highly cinematic, story rich film, which at some point shows penetration, ejaculation etc. I liked Shortbus for being candid about sexuality, the sex scenes felt right because of the type of film it was - about sex.
Plus it helps with movie ratings and general accessibility. Acted sex often looks just as real without exposing any porn like shots, and the added cloak of modesty adds to it, rather than takes away from it.
I don't really think having unsimulated sex would make everything better. Sex scenes would be hotter, sure, but sex scenes as a narrative device are not there to fuel your erection in the first place Seeing penetration makes me horny, I don't find it especially appealing in a narrative context. I personally don't care for plot whatsoever, porn is there to fuel my wanks for a quick release. That's the closest thing you'll find nowadays.Ī lot of people don't watch porn in any capacity, many watch the ones that are straight to the point. Look up Colby Keller and his weird cinematic project where he's recording having sex in every US state and making it have a narrative meaning. Not within a cinematic context anyway, porn works fine as it is. Not many people give a shit about real, unsimulated sex, there isn't a market for it. Without a budget, good script or good actors, the film will suck.Ī film that won't be shown in cinemas and have a hard time being sold in most reputable shops is not a film many would want to make. Good actors want to get paid well and preferably get recognised for their work - having penetrative sex on camera is hardly glamorous. Good scriptwriters want good pay so they won't work a low budget indie film. No big studio would want to commission a film which is basically glorified porn it wouldn't be allowed in cinemas and would make no money and earn no accolades. You're not gonna find that, unfortunately.
